The flamenco & Spanish dance company was originally named Brisas de España, then it was later named Ballet Flamenco. It is now under the artistic direction of the prolific artist and daughter of Ms. Lugo, Tachíria CarOlé Flamenco.

Ms. Flamenco nourishes artistic inventiveness by the utilizing elements within the realms of flamenco (traditional & contemporary) and Spanish dance (regional/classical/contemporary), which can include music, song, acting, comedy. A unique style of musical theatre. While honoring tradition and cultivating evolution on a global scale, there are performances, collaborations and educational opportunities for all communities. She works as a soloist, is the director of a company of artists and directs other projects as well. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, we work both nationally and internationally.

“Top Flamenco Dancer in America” -So You Think You Can Dance

A next generation artist and millennial, Ms. Tachíria Flamenco (Tachíria CarOlé Acuña Flamenco) turned professional at fourteen and has over twenty years of experience. She is the fifth generation flamenco & Spanish (classical, regional) dancer in a Gitano family legacy, a versatile Meisner actor, contemporary dancer, singer, stand-up comedian, choreographer, director, author, scholar. Her work can be seen in film, television, streaming, in commercials, in theatres as well as other mediums. Ms. Flamenco has been named the “Top flamenco dancer in America” by the So You Think You Can Dance judges, a Mexico City Fashion Film Festival Best Actress nominee, is one of the featured professionals as “Living the Dream” & named a “Flamenco Star” by Sunset Magazine, is an Isadora Duncan Dance Award elite nominee in individual performance, named “One of the funniest stand-up comedians in the Bay Area” by the Contra Costa Times, she performs internationally. Ms. Flamenco was one of the first originally chosen artists by Jennifer Lopez to be in “¡Que Viva! The Chosen”. She is the artistic director of Tachíria Flamenco’s Danza Música Comedia Teatro.

Ms. Flamenco grew up in a flamenco and Spanish dance house hold. Her mother, Flamenco and Spanish dance legend, Carolina Lugo and grandmother taught her dance while various international artists came to live and collaborate with shows. Starting her training in ballet at the age of three, Ms. Flamenco balanced ballet, Spanish dance, flamenco and school before turning professional at fourteen years of age with Rosa Montoya. She later joined Ms. Lugo’s company then Ms. Flamenco created her own company at age 18 in Sevilla, Spain, Acuña Danza Teatrowhich is now called Tachíria Flamenco’s Danza Música Comedia Teatro.

Tachíria has had the honor of being the flamenco protégé of Pepa Montes in Sevilla, Spain, where she has been living and intensively training every two years since she was invited during a dance tour when she was eighteen. This is the prestigious school from Matilde Coral and Pastora Imperio. She has also studied with many more flamenco greats in Spain such as Torómbo, Esperanza Fernandez, Concha Vargas, Miguel Betanzos, Antonio Vargas to name a few.

Ms. Flamenco is a BIPOC, mixed race, Yaqui, Afro-Latina/e, Gitana, Sephardic Jewish, two spirit, feminist, survivor of rape, domestic violence, cancer and now a thriver. She is here to help people through her work which relates to the profoundly diverse and complex way of life, art-form, culture that is Flamenco, which she finds the relation to in many aspects of life.

With a love for acting, singing, creating plays and constantly being nominated the class clown throughout school, becoming an actor, singer and comedian seemed like a good fit as well so Ms. Flamenco also became a professional actor, singer and comedian at the age of twenty two, after she went through intensive training with various artists and at the University. She is currently obtaining her graduate degree in Theatre/Dance with a specialized focus that will be announced in due time.

While being multifaceted, Ms. Flamenco respects the intricacies of each discipline, as she has studied each one vigorously, is growth oriented, continuously evolving. Her chosen genres are specific to her unique artistic vision and it shows in her work; flamenco is at the core of all of it.

Ms. Flamenco has performed with the Shanghai Opera, California Symphony, Golden Gate Opera, Mendocino Symphony, Peninsula Symphony, Caroline’s New York, San Jose Improv, Punchline San Francisco, New York Brooklyn Church, The Dungeon of San Francisco, Hurbts Theatre, New Conservatory Theatre, Venetto Quartet, Dos Hermanas Peña, Clube Porto, British Colombia Theatre, Martuni Blues Los Angeles, Rooster T. Feathers to name a few. She has performed with Manuel Betanzos, Pepa Montes, Jim Jarrett, Pedro Ricardo Miño, Ricardo Miño, Antonio Vargas, Carlos Ubillus, Concha Vargas, Jim Parrack Stroy Moyd, Manuel Betánzos, Jesús Herrera and many more.
